Participant Information
Information for Speakers
Each speaker is expected to make a 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute discussion/question period.
Speakers who will be providing hand-outs (which we encourage even if slides will be used in the presentation) should bring at least 60 handouts. Photocopy services are available on campus only on Friday. Several off-campus locations also provide photo-copying services during the weekend, but a car is necessary to get there. We strongly encourage speakers to come to the conference with handouts already photocopied. Speakers should also present themselves to the session chair during the pre-session break.
The following audio-visual equipment will be available in the auditorium:
* a microphone
* a data projector connected to a computer (see below)
* loudspeakers for presentation of audio material
The data projector will be connected to a laptop with the most recent versions of Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If you need any additional software, please contact us in advance.
Using our computer:
You can use our computer for your presentation - in fact we recommend it - just email us your presentation, preferably as a pdf-file with all fonts embedded, to afla17@afla17.org or bring it on a USB memory stick or a CD/DVD. We strongly encourage you to email us the presentations by Monday, May 3, to ensure that there are no technical problems.
Using your computer:
If you wish to use your own laptop, you can connect it to the data projector. However please keep in mind that any time spent on setup will reduce the time for your presentation! We also recommend that you bring a backup copy on USB memory stick or CD in case setup problems arise. (Don't forget to test your backup copy!)
